SIFE Student Filmmaker and MPAA Anti-Piracy Exposure Opportunity

The Riverside International Film Festival (RIFF) has, for the past four years, provided a unique opportunity for professional and aspiring filmmakers. RIFF continues to grow in size, scope and stature as a prominent venue for top quality international cinema, showing films from around the world, including world premieres, features, shorts and documentaries.

As a major center of arts and culture in Inland Southern California, the City of Riverside is proud to welcome the international film community and audiences who enjoy and appreciate the entertaining, enlightening, inspiring and provocative stories of our world, as told by some of the industry's most innovative filmmakers and up-and-coming directors, for a rich and varied artistic experience.

This year, the La Sierra University SIFE team has joined with RIFF to increase the opportunity available to young filmmakers, and promote a focus on important issues in the local and global community. We invite our fellow SIFE members around the world and/or students from their respective schools and universities to be a part of this exciting event.

Participation may take place in one of two ways:

1. Visit www.riversidefilmfest.org for information on how to submit films for the festival (the submission deadline has been extended). Special arrangements are available for those unable to pay the submission fee. Films of all lengths are being accepted. Several films will receive awards at the close of the festival, including the conversion of a film to 35mm format (a $35,000-$50,000 value).

a. A special focus for this year's submissions regards the 2005-2006 SIFE judging criteria. Preference will be given to films which particularly address criteria related topics such as ethics, financial literacy, market based economics, women's issues, entrepreneurship, global perspective, etc.

2. The La Sierra University SIFE team will be choosing several MPAA Anti-Piracy public service announcements to be run throughout the festival (February 17-26). Media exposure has been set forth as an important part of the criteria for the SIFE/MPAA National Anti-Piracy Public Service Announcement Contest. If approved, the public service announcements will be viewed by large audiences several times throughout the festival. No submission fee is required, but submissions must be received before February 16, 2006.

a. Send a DVD copy of your team's PSA along with a brief description and intent of your message to:
