The City-SIFE Enterprise Challenge is an established financial literacy program delivered to 'At-Risk' young people in London schools as identified by the Prince's Trust for having a number of problems such as behaviour and concentration issues, below average attainment and risk of exclusion. The project takes the students through a number of business areas such as marketing, finance and strategy, focused on equipping them with the skills necessary to run their own business and create a full business plan for it. Central to all businesses are sound financial management, and this is covered thoroughly within the program. The students are taken through sources of finance and the risks posed by these, budgeting and financial planning and the importance of this, and also the production of financial statements such as profit and loss accounts.
