15 July Report Frequently Asked Questions
What is the report deadline?
Reports for 2008 HSBC Financial Literacy Grants and 2008 Topic Competition teams are due July 15, 2008. This date must be adhered to in order to qualify to nominate an individual for the 2008 HSBC Financial Literacy Forum in October. Late reports will be accepted, but teams not allowed to nominate someone after the deadline.
Why are multiple contacts required?
We wish to interact with teams regularly. It is easiest if all parties involved are aware of what information is being communicated.
How do we count "SIFE Students"?
Include all SIFE students who were involved with any aspect of their SIFE team's Financial Literacy project(s) including preparation, delivery, or administrative work.
What does "Directly Reached or Impacted" mean?
These individuals are separate head count who either: attended a class or seminar or were an entrepreneur who was helped.
What will photos be used for?
Photos may be used in reports, presentations, or marketing-related areas relating to the program such as brochures or online. Please only post photos that may be used to promote the program and the people in the photos are aware of usage.
What is the difference between qualitative and quantitative data?
Quantitative means: "expressed or capable of expression as a quantity or number."
Qualitative means "of or relating to quality"
Qualitative
Questions relating to program delivery or the quality of the activities and outcomes are qualitative. These questions require explaining what was taught or delivered and what the outcomes are. Qualitative data is explained in text format, but may contain numbers or "measurables," such as "We delivered 12 lectures to 6 elementary classes. Student learners were given pre- and post-tests and increased knowledge by 75%." Another example: "We worked with an entrepreneur, after 6 months, her profits increased 700% because of consistent costing of raw goods, increase marketability, and spending additional dollars on advertising."
Questions on the report relating to qualitative data include:
- Project Goals and Objectives
- Qualitative Description
- Measurable Impact of those Directly Reached or Impacted
Quantitative
Quantitative data requests numbers. For example, "How many SIFE students were involved."
Questions on the report requiring number data:
- All questions starting with "Number of..."
