Nicholas Walsh is Executive Vice President, Foreign General Insurance of American International Group, Inc. (AIG), President and Chief Executive Officer of American International Underwriters (AIU).

Mr. Walsh, is native of the United Kingdom, was educated at Wellington College and is a graduate of the CEPAC Management Institute, Brussels. He joined AIG in 1973 in London. He held a succession of underwriting and general management positions in the U.K., Belgium and Austria.

From 1989 he held a number of regional management roles in London and Paris with responsibility for U.K./Ireland and continental European divisions respectively.

In 1996 he relocated to London on his appointment as Managing Director of AIG Europe (UK) Limited and President of the UK/Ireland Division. He served as the senior AIG country officer for the United Kingdom.

In 2002, he relocated to New York and was appointed to his current role.

He is a director of the International Insurance Society (IIS); a member of the Seoul International Business Advisory Council (SIBAC), the U.S.-Japan Business Council (USJBC) and of the TransAtlantic Business Dialogue (TABD).

Prior to joining AIG, he had a number of positions in public health, construction, direct sales and retail. He has four children.
