Jack Shewmaker is an executive consultant recognized internationally for his retailing expertise. He retired as an officer of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. in 1988, after serving in numerous capacities including President and Chief Operating Officer, and Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer. He continues as a member of the Board of Directors.

In addition to serving on the Wal-Mart Board of Directors, Mr. Shewmaker serves as an Advisory Board Member for Henkel, North America; on both the Executive and Finance Committees of the Board of Trustees of The Cleveland Clinic; the Board of Directors of The Sisters of Mercy Health System (Mercy); and on the Executive Advisory Board for the Westark Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Presently he is involved as a consultant to the Board of Directors and Executive Management of Woolworths Limited, in Australia. He has also consulted with companies in New Zealand, Africa, Asia, and the United Kingdom and PepsiCo, Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Meyers and White Laboratories, Inc. in the United States. He is a frequent national and international keynote speaker on business, retailing, technology and motivation.

Jack is involved in several organizations that promote higher education. For several years he was Chairman of Students in Free Enterprise, Inc. (SIFE) in Springfield, Missouri and continues to serve that group as an Executive Board Member. He was Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri and continues to serve on the Executive Committee of the Board. Jack has delivered several commencement speeches. He has been awarded honorary degrees from Southwest Baptist University, Drury University, NorthWest Arkansas Community College and Flagler College.

Mr. Shewmaker and his family own and operate JAC’s Ranch, one of the largest cattle operations in Northwest Arkansas, breeding and showing registered Black Angus. The JAC’s Ranch program has produced national champions and sells product to national and international customers.

He and his wife, Melba, reside in Bentonville, Arkansas. They have one son, two daughters, seven granddaughters and three grandsons. They travel extensively and enjoy snow skiing.
