San Juan, Puerto Rico – The University of Puerto Rico Humacao SIFE team was named SIFE Puerto Rico National Champion and will advance to represent Puerto Rico at the SIFE World Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this October. Eleven teams participated in the Puerto Rico National Competition 15-17 June, and more than 350 people attended this event, including leading business executives who judged the competition.

Every country that operates a SIFE program is eligible to conduct a national competition for the teams in that country. Each SIFE team presents the results of their outreach projects to determine which teams made the most impact on their communities. The national champions then face each other at the SIFE World Cup. Thirty-nine SIFE teams are expected to participate in this year's international competition.
